Looking to turbocharge your Russian? I recommend Bruslang in Tallinn as a challenging yet friendly and thoroughly enjoyable option. Teaching techniques range from role-playing and games to debates and even a mock courtroom trial and landscape painting lesson. Yes, there are grammar tutorials and written homework assignments, but in doses that to me felt just right. And Russian in Estonia’s historic, beautiful capital isn’t just a classroom exercise. You can apply what you’ve learned every day in Tallinn’s streets, shops and restaurants with local native speakers. My 4-week fall 2025 course included numerous class outings, including to a ballet version of Tolstoy’s “Anna Karenina,” a Russian-language production of the Broadway classic “My Fair Lady” and the Tallinn residence of Peter the Great. All trips were thoughtfully designed to broaden and deepen the student’s knowledge of Russian.  My heartfelt thanks to Diana and everyone at Bruslang for a rich and wonderfully satisfying program.

J’ai passé deux excellentes semaines de cours de russe à l’école Bruslang à Tallinn. Les professeures Diana, Maria, Alla et Marina ont toutes été très professionnelles, pédagogues et motivantes. L’ambiance générale de l’école est chaleureuse et encourageante, ce qui rend l’apprentissage du russe encore plus agréable.
Les activités proposées en dehors des cours étaient bien choisies et vraiment intéressantes, permettant de pratiquer la langue dans des contextes variés. L’enseignement est de grande qualité et adapté aux besoins de chaque étudiant.
L’école est également très bien située : à proximité directe d’un centre de fitness, de studios de yoga, d’un supermarché, et seulement à 10 minutes à pied de la plage – parfait pour alterner étude et détente.
En résumé, une expérience enrichissante que je recommande sans hésitation !

We appreciated the warm welcome and good atmosphere at the school. Everything is very well taken care of, from the program and personal learning material for each individual student to the coffee with sweets during the break.

I was only there for 2 weeks but I did not expect to make so much progress. Not only in my speaking but especially in my comprehension. I started from basically 0 (only knowing the alphabet and very limited vocabulary) to now being able to talk about myself and others in different tenses, and even express my own thoughts in a basic manner. My comprehension also improved immensely. I am extremely grateful for this opportunity and to the teachers for the incredibly impressive quality of teaching they provide, in and out of class. I could not recommend it enough.

Kurs zaskoczył mnie bardzo pozytywnie. Jako Polka co prawda nauka szła bardzo sprawnie, ale to jak materiały były przedstawiane naprawdę dawało mi chęć do ciągłej nauki. Ciągle bym tylko siedziała nad zadaniami domowymi. Satysfakcja po kursie jest ogromna.

The course was excellent, well-planned and interesting. The teacher, Diana, was very encouraging, positive and patient. She organized both lessons and extra activites to accommodate everyone’s interests and levels of Russian. Tallinn is a beautiful town and, short of studying in Russia, my experience could not have been better.

Una scuola di russo veramente unica. Una scuola che fornisce dei corsi di lingua russa intensivi ma alla quale vai con gioia. I gruppi sono sempre composti da persone super carine e interessanti e di tutte le età’. In ogni momento della giornata, inclusi i we siamo immersi nella cultura e nella lingua. Una scuola che consiglio a veramente tutti quelli che vogliono praticare la lingua e incontrare nuovi amici.

I loved the summer school – challenging, fun and engaging classes, dedicated teachers and a supportive and motivating environment. Every aspect of the course, in and out of the classroom, was designed to maximise practising Russian. This was my second course and I’m sure I’ll be back again.

Our summer course was a great learning experience in so many ways. Classroom learning is of course a huge part of the program, although the material is never dry or static. Exercises in class cover vocabulary, grammar, word usage and all the related academic subjects, but structured through a variety of compelling tasks, film clips, literature, historical segments and discussions around contemporary topics. Our group was engaged and focused, such that the experience was very immersive. All the time outside the classroom, including the historical, artistic, cultural, travel and social aspects made this a uniquely valuable experience, and one that really accelerated my Russian study. I would highly recommend the program to any serious Russian language learner.

C’est avec un grand plaisir que je suis revenu cet été en Estonie pour suivre un cours intensif de russe chez Bruslang . Encore une fois tous les ingrédients étaient réunis pour passer un excellent séjour : des cours d’une grand qualité , un suivi pédagogique sérieux et des sorties culturelles passionnantes. Je conseil Bruslang à toux ceux qui souhaitent découvrir l’Estonie tout en apprenant le russe… sans oublier les nouvelles rencontres à chaque fois inoubliables!

Ci si sente come a casa, informale e molto accogliente, ma nello stesso tempo molto ben stutturato pedagogicamente. Insegnanti motivati, professionali, aperti a farti scoprire luoghi e eventi.

Questa é stata un’esperienza a dir poco positiva. Non mi aspettavo un tale livello di organizzazione né che sole due settimane di corso potessero avere un tale impatto positivo sul mio processo (finora molto lento!) di apprendimento. Il tutto ha di gran lunga superato le mie aspettative. I membri dei gruppi erano stati selezionati molto accuratamente, per cui ne risultava che non ci fossero particolari differenze di livello e che tutti potessimo interagire in modo efficace e divertente. La mia speranza é di poter partecipare a questo corso tutte le estati! Tallinn (splendida cittá!) o altrove, ne sarei ben lieta. Ringrazio ancora di cuore tutti i membri dello staff che con tale gentilezza e calore ci ha accolti!

Dans la mignonne et accueillante ville de Tallinn, j’ai pu profiter pleinement de deux semaines de très bien préparées et organisées par Diana, une personne aussi professionnelle que bienveillante. J’ai particulièrement apprécié la qualité, la diversité des supports proposés, qui sont créés à partir de nos besoins. On sent bien qu’ils sont conçus pour permettre aux étranger d’entrer dans la langue russe, par la communication. Je me suis sentie progresser, gagner en autonomie, en comprenant comment se forme/se comprend le lexique russe, et en automatisant les règles de grammaire et les structures les plus fréquentes. Les interactions avec les autres étudiants sont joyeuses et motivantes.

I loved this course! The material always feels manageable and yet challenging, and the teachers have a great sense of your level. I found the hours spent both speaking and listening incredibly valuable for refreshing my Russian level.
